Despite our best intentions, we sometimes find ourselves playing the same scenes, same characters, same games over and over again. All the Paints in the Paintbox is a joyful approach to reignite curiosity, helping us shake off our creative cobwebs, identify the habits that have turned into patterns, and push out to the furthermost edges of what’s possible in improvisation.

Improv necessarily involves a balance between assumption and curiosity. This workshop invites participants to identify the ‘default choices’ they make in their scenework, the assumptions that they don’t know they’re making, to help shift the balance back towards curiosity and possibility.
The default choices could be a usual tone of scenes, tendencies towards conflict, recurring staging patterns, or structural choices such as getting an ask-for for the scene.
The workshop is led by the participants, based on their experience and interest, and incorporates exercises to help develop skills and possibilities in the choices they identify.
Experience level: suitable for beginners, intermediate students, and advanced students. (Because Jim will work very individual with you)
